With hazards like busy city streets, Lake Mendota, Monona, and Wingra, the Yahara River, and other pets to chase or evade, keeping your dog on your property can be a headache, whether you live in Madison or own several acres in Dane County.

Whatever your situation, we’ll evaluate your project and help you find a solution. Our team has experienced a wide variety of installation scenarios, from running fence through rough terrain, to drawing borders around water hazards and negotiating concrete.

Madison Area Underground Dog Fence Installation Services

Our goal is for your dog to be safely contained, happy, and healthy. We’ll ensure our high-quality fence is properly installed, the settings are configured especially for your pet(s), and you get the support you need if you have any questions or concerns.

When You Choose A Dog Guard® Underground Dog Fence, You Get:

  • 1 Dog Guard® transmitter — Sends a radio signal to the buried boundary wire

  • 1 receiver with nylon collar and battery — Worn by your dog to deliver stimuli in the correction zone

  • Boundary flags — Used during training to indicate the location of the fence

  • Dog training assistance

  • Year-round service and support

How it Works:

1

We install the Dog Guard® radio transmitter in your basement, garage, or other convenient location in your home.

2

We install the underground signal wire around the perimeter of your property. This will form the boundary.

3

We fit your dog(s) with receiver collar(s) which provide your choice of a mild corrective stimulus or audible warning.

4

The fence is marked with flags so your dog can see where it is.

5

For 15 minutes, twice daily, for about 2 weeks, you walk your dog along the boundary. You tell your dog “No!” whenever they approach the fence and praise them when they retreat from it.

6

After your dog has learned where the boundary is located, you can remove the flags, and your dog will remember its location without the visual cues.

What Makes the Dog Guard® Underground Dog Fence Stand Out from Others?

Dual Correction Zones

Our exclusive technology includes a reminder zone within 3–6 feet of the boundary. When dogs enter this secondary zone, they are sent an audible reminder to turn around.

Full-service Package

When you choose Dog Guard®, we provide a complete pet containment system that includes professional installation, training, and year-round support.

Flexible System

Dog Guard® offers 32 levels of correction with 4 choices of receiver, including the strongest available and one of the smallest—a system to suit a wide range of dog breeds and temperaments. The system is owner-adjustable, and can cover a range of up to 50 acres.

Underground Dog Fence Installation in Waunakee, WI

After receiving a pricey quote from another company (which took a week and an on-site meeting with potential installation 2 weeks later) J put in an online request with Dog Guard® of Wisconsin. They were contacted within 24 hrs, explained their situation to over the phone, and got a quote.

Pricing was much more reasonable (with financing available) so I agreed and scheduled an installation only 2 days later. The system works, they got the job done in a timely and professional manner and have continued to follow up in the months following installation to make sure everything is continuing to go well. Very pleased overall."

Dog Guard® Underground Dog Fence FAQs

Is It Cruel to Constantly Correct My Dog?

Our system’s mild corrective stimulus is similar to a door knob shock, and has been thoroughly tested for safety. Our system is so flexible that you can adjust the strength of the correction—32 levels—as well as fit your dog with an appropriately sized receiver collar.

At the end of the day, a good underground dog fencing system does not require your pet to be corrected all the time.

Instead, we help you train your dog to avoid the boundary fence. Most dogs only receive a few corrections. Plus, our system includes a second warning zone that notifies your dog when they’re within a few feet of the fence so they can easily avoid a correction.

What About When I Want to Walk My Dog?

After training on the fence is complete, simply remove the transceiver collar from your dog before taking them out of the yard.

How Do I Know It’s Working?

Green and red lights illuminated on your transmitter means everything is functioning properly. If the yellow light turns on, something has gone wrong and you should call your dealer.

Are the Batteries Rechargeable?

No, but we offer 1, 2, and 3 year battery plans so your fence never runs out of energy. Give us a call at  608-628-2609 to learn more.

What Is the Difference Between Your Product & an Underground Dog Fence From A Retail Store?

When you purchase a Dog Guard® underground dog fence, you don’t just get high-quality equipment, it also comes with:

  • Professional installation service
  • 30-day money back guarantee
  • Limited lifetime equipment warranty
  • Complementary pet training assistance
  • Hands-on customer service

I’ve Heard Some Systems Don’t Work for Every Pet. What Should I Be Looking For?

Look for a company backed by a manufacturer that provides excellent service if there is an issue. While underground dog fences work for a range of breeds, not every dog is trainable. If this is the case for you, Dog Guard® offers a 30-day money back guarantee.

That said, after 35 years in business, we can easily say that Dog Guard® fencing solutions have worked for a variety of dog breeds across the country, from labs to lap dogs.

How Many Pets Will This Underground Dog Fence System Sustain?

About as many as you want. One of our clients has 28 on it at the same time.

What If The Power Goes Out?

To protect against downtime due to power failure, you can purchase a backup battery similar to a home computer’s that will last you hours.

How Much Does a System Cost?

The Dog Guard® underground dog fence system is very affordable—much less expensive than traditional fencing like chain link or vinyl fencing, and without the maintenance headaches.

Final costs depend on the area you want to enclose (size of the fence) and how many dogs you wish to put on the system.
